Moriarty, to the under secretary of Ireland concerning an application for imprest of £120.At the time this letter was written Sir Robert Chalmers (1858-1938) was serving as the under secretary of Ireland. Chalmers was sent to Ireland as a replacement for Sir Matthew Nathan, who had resigned along with Augustine Birrell, his chief secretary, following the outbreak of the Easter Rising in 1916.</p>

                Killarney  Co Kerry    June 23 1916   Sir,   The Balance of Public Money remaining in my hands this day <lb/>being Â£ 8 ,,6 ,,9, I have the honour to request that an <lb/>Imprest may be made to me of One hundred &amp; twenty Pounds, <lb/>for the payment of current Express during the present Month. <lb/>State of my Account up to this date given overleaf. <seg type="closer"> I am, <lb/>SIR, <lb/>Your obedient Servant,  David M Moriarty   The Under Secretary,  Dublin Castle.  </seg>
