                13 Fingal Pce 4.11.15 Dear Maggie I <sic>could’nt</sic> go <lb/> out on Sunday night last, <lb/> my cold was very bad <lb/> and when the rain started <lb/> it decided me altogether. <lb/> I would have written you <lb/> sooner only I expected to <lb/> see you coming home for <lb/>dinner or when I was <lb/> coming home at night.
            <pb n="2" facs="L1916_0532_img_1910_2"/>
              I haven’t been out at night <lb/> time since last Saturday <lb/> night when I was talking <lb/> to you, except for half an <lb/> hour on Wednesday night <lb/> when I went down to the <lb/> barbers. This staying in <lb/> has me nearly “down and <lb/> out” and I don’t expect <lb/> to be better before Sunday. <lb/> I hope this apology, or <lb/> excuse if you like, will <lb/> be accepted. I must be <lb/> doomed to write nothing <lb/> but apologies.
            <pb n="3" facs="L1916_0532_img_1910_3"/>
              How are you getting on. <lb/> I hope you are alright <lb/> and wont catch anything <lb/> like the cold I have <lb/> You would feel miserable. <lb/> I better post this note <lb/> quick, I might tear it up <lb/> as I <sic>cant</sic> find anything <lb/> interesting to put in it. <lb/> Hoping you are not <lb/> vexed with me for not <lb/> writing before.
