This is a letter from Jane Barklie to Herbert Henry Asquith (1852–1928), then Liberal Prime Minister of Great Britain. Barklie is requesting money for expenses for a trip to London as she wishes to share information about the Rising with the Prime Minister but cannot trust anyone in Ireland.

I have lived in the West 30 years. I am 10 miles from a railway car it is 15/. as a fare to London from Tuam about £5 as near as I can go but a gov. warrant from Tuam would be sufficient if you accepted offer send through local police just to show the genuineness of offer but do not tell them mymission.
