It states that the Secretary of State for Scotland Thomas McKinnon Wood (1855-1827), should be informed. Enclosed is a written statement regarding martial law and a poster on same.</p>

                27th May, 1916.   Sir,   I am directed by the Lords Justices to <lb/>enclose, for the information of the Secretary <lb/> for Scotland, a copy of a Proclamation made by <lb/>Their Excellencies on the 26th instant, direct- <lb/> ing that a state of Martial Law shall continue <lb/> to exist throughout Ireland until further order. <seg type="closer"> I am, <lb/>Sir, <lb/>Your obedient Servant,  E.                LAW ROOM, <lb/>DUBLIN CASTLE.  Whereas dissatisfaction and unrest still <lb/>prevail in certain parts of Ireland <seg type="del">cuasing</seg><lb/>causing anxiety and alarm amongst the <lb/>peaceful   law abiding subjects of His Majesty   Now we (n ?) do hereby proclaim that a <lb/> state of martial law shall continue to <lb/> exist throughout Ireland until further <lb/>order  25 - 5 - 16

               <lb/>BY THE LORDS JUSTICES GENERAL AND <lb/>GENERAL GOVERNORS OF IRELAND <lb/>A PROCLAMATION  <lb/>WHEREAS disaffection and unrest still <lb/>prevail in certain parts of Ireland, causing <lb/>anxiety and alarm amongst the peaceful and <lb/>law abiding subjects of His Majesty: <lb/>NOW WE, the Lords Justices General <lb/> and General Governors of Ireland DO HEREBY <lb/>proclaim that a state of <lb/>MARTIAL LAW <lb/>shall continue to exist throughout Ireland until <lb/>further order.    <lb/>Given at His Majesty's Castle of Dublin, <lb/>this 26th of May, 1916.  <lb/>RICHD.
