The letter concerns the death of Michael, offering condolences to Anne and her sister Mary Ellen 'Nell' O'Rahilly, or Humphreys by marriage.Michael Joseph O'Rahilly, self-described as 'The' O'Rahilly, was involved in the procurement of arms in the lead-up to the Rising and was involved in the Howth gun-running incident. He fought in the G.P.O. During the Rising and was shot in Parnell/Moore Street on 28 April 1916 and died some time later.</p>

                The Presbytery,  Ballylongford,  Co. Kerry.    May 13 1916   My dear Miss O'Rahilly,   I heard with <lb/> much regret of the <lb/> death of your brother and offer you, Mrs <lb/> O'Rahilly and family, <lb/> and Mrs. Humphreys <lb/> my very sincere <lb/> condolence. I

              shall ask the prayers <lb/> of the congregation <lb/> for the repose of <lb/>his soul to-morrow <lb/>and say Mass for <lb/>him myself. When <lb/> the funeral to Lis- <lb/>loughtin takes place <lb/> I will give you <lb/> every assistance <lb/> here. With renewed <lb/>sympathy &amp; best wishes <seg type="closer"> Yours Sincerely  P.
