This is a letter from Andrew Philip Magill (1871–1941) an Irish civil servant, to Alfred Bryne (1882-1956) a member of parliament for the Irish Parliamentary Party in the Dublin harbor. Andrew Philip Magill acted as private secretary to Augustine Birrell (1850-1933), the chief secretary for Ireland. Magill assumed the role in 1913 and continued after the resignation of Birrell in 1916.
