This is a letter from Cis M Coyle to James Ryan (1891-1970) on 11 July 1916. This letter was written while Ryan was a prisoner in Frongach in Wales. She refers mainly to mutual friends at home and fellow prisoners of Ryan's.James Ryan studied medicine in UCD. He was appointed chief medical officer in the GPO during the Easter Rising. After the Rising he was imprisoned in Stafford and, later, Frongoch and was released in August 1916. Ryan was later a founder member of Fianna Fáil and a government minister.

 58 Aughrim St July 11th. 1916 Tuesday My dear Jim I hope you are very well and that you like the change to Camps. Did you see the Councillor at all since he went to Frongoch? I suppose there are a great number of you in Camp. Are you all to-gether? Liam has not written to me since he went to Wales. I hope he is not ill. Kathleen Morrin is with me to-day. She came up to see a Dr with her arm. She got a bad fall off her bicycle She says to tell you she is sorry you are not here to cure it for her. All friends wish to be remembered to you. How is Michael Kelly? Tell him I was enquiring for him and also tell all my other friends in exile. I believe a lot of the Irish prisoners have been tried, have you been before the Advisory Committee yet? Is there any chance of your getting home soon I wonder.
